Статья представляет собой анализ возможностей исследования почтовой открытки. После десятилетий активного использования в конце 19 – 20 веках открытка в начале 21 века является гораздо менее востребованным культурным феноменом. Однако же, несмотря на переход к цифровой цивилизации, открытка не исчезает полностью. Автор отмечает, что удельный вес использования открытки в научных исследованиях достаточно невелик. «Визуальный поворот» в историографии привел к тому, что открытку начинают использовать в качестве предмета научных исследований. Автор полагает, что подобный подход не позволяет раскрыть весь потенциал почтовой открытки в научных исследованиях. Автор полагает, что открытка может быть введена в широкое поле антропологии, в рамках которой она может быть использована как предмет, среда и метод исследований. Это позволит не только получить информацию о культуре, социальных отношениях и т.п. аспектах (предмет), но и о практиках использования открыток (украшение, коллекционирование, обмен, надписание), а также использовать открытки в качестве методов антропологических исследований.

The article is an analysis of the possibilities of postcard research. After decades of active use in the late 19th - 20th centuries, the postcard at the beginning of the 21st century is a much less popular cultural phenomenon. However, despite the transition to digital civilization, the postcard does not disappear completely. The author notes that the share of the use of postcards in scientific research is quite small. The «visual turn» in historiography has led to the fact that the postcard is beginning to be used as a subject of scientific research. The author believes that such an approach does not allow to reveal the full potential of a postcard in scientific research. The author believes that the postcard can be introduced into a wide field of anthropology, within which it can be used as a subject, medium and method of research. This will allow not only to get information about the culture, social relations, etc. (subject), but also about the practices of using postcards (decoration, collecting, exchange, inscription), as well as using postcards as methods of anthropological research.
